Atelier Février has never followed a seasonal calendar. Each rug is created when it’s ready. Shaped slowly, with care. As we enter our tenth year, we’re opening a new chapter in our story. Not a collection, but a quiet continuation. The previous rugs thoughtfully designed since 2015 now form Chapter I, a living archive of our evolving language in design and craft.
Today, Chapter II begins with five new pieces. A new constellation of rugs, revealed as they are ready. Each one shaped by a different thread of intention, and grounded in the same philosophy: that rarity is the quiet result of doing things with care. These pieces were not designed to fit a theme, but to follow a rhythm, one guided by intuition, shaped by the hand, and rooted in our culture, craft and design. Some carry traces of architectural forms, others echo ancestral gestures or forgotten fabrics.
Each piece speaks with its own voice, drawn from wood, thread, light, or movement.
Mel, Mazzy, Dos à Dos, Ribbon and Baghs form Chapter II, each drawn from a different thread of inspiration.
Taking note from the parquet floor of a Parisian apartment driven by the quiet elegance of its pattern and layered like a carefully tailored garment, Mel is a subtle tribute to the grain of wood and the timeless charm of Parisian interiors.
Dos à Dos offers a close-up into the quiet poetry of old Flemish and French tapestries.
Florian draws on his deep admiration for these historical works, focusing on the age-old technique of ‘hachures’ where threads of varying tones intertwine to create a delicate, almost imperceptible gradient of color. This subtle merging of hues evokes light and shadow in motion, sculpting depth and volume with remarkable softness. A quiet homage to heritage, reimagined through a contemporary lens.
An old piece of wood, shaped over time by the elements and marked by nature’s touch, that’s where the inspiration for the Mazzy rug begins. Its pattern isn’t drawn, but revealed, like something slowly formed over the years. The result is a piece with quiet character, rich in texture and depth, that feels more like a story than a design.
Inspired by the timeless work of Léon Bakst, the Ribbon rug is the result of a close collaboration between Atelier Février and de Gournay. Born from a shared passion for colours and pattern, each ribbon carries its own unique detail and gentle movement, coming together in a graceful choreography, like a ballet woven into the surface.
Drawn from the ever-inspiring Phulkari embroidery, this work celebrates a surface so richly adorned that the base fabric all but disappears beneath the intricate detailing. Traditionally worn for special occasions, its layers of meaning are stitched into every thread, both seen and unseen. We are lured to this quiet intensity that invites attention and the hidden beauty only reveals itself upon closer inspection.
