Designer Erwan Boulloud’s curiosity led him to liquid crystals. Their structure follows incredibly precise physical laws, and yet what we see looks almost accidental. Free-flowing, irregular, impossible to predict. There is an order underneath it all, but it never really shows itself.
The Spira rug takes Erwan’s sculptural language, usually expressed through metal and translates it to something different. Wool, silk and allo bringing softness to the drawing, each material catching the pattern differently. The textures shift and cascade into one another, creating a surface that feels structured and spontaneous at the same time.
